EMMA HORWITZ is a writer from New York City, who was born during a cold month in the year 1992.

Recent productions: Two Sisters Find a Box of Lesbian Erotica in the Woods, created with Bailey Williams, dir. Tara Elliot, The Exponential Festival in collaboration with New Georges, Winter 2024; Mary Gets Hers, dir. Josiah Davis, The Playwrights Realm, Fall 2023 (NYT Critic’s Pick.) Emma is the 2023/2024 Page One Playwright with the Playwrights Realm, an alum of Clubbed Thumb’s Early Career Writers’ Group, & an Affiliated Artist with New Georges, where she received a 2022 Audrey Residency with Bailey Williams.

Work in fiction and comix have been published in print and online at Joyland Magazine, Two Serious Ladies, Vol. 1 Brooklyn's Sunday Stories, Spiral Bound, Moon Missives, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, etc. Residencies held at the William Inge Center for the Arts, Erik Ehn’s Stillwright, Arts Letters & Numbers, and CAMP (Collaborative Arts Mobility Project). Winner of the 2022 Chelsey/Bumbalo Playwriting Award for The Executrix. Emma has taught playwriting at the Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University and Mount Holyoke College.
